Student Life

The schedule for our Diploma de Patisserie and the ‘Six Week Certificate Course’ are extremely rigorous with classes that begin at 8 a.m. and often go on until 6 p.m.

The emphasis whilst during the course apart from learning has always remained on punctuality, discipline, hygiene, respect for fellow students and chefs, and on appropriate behaviour. On days when there are no classes, the students utilise their time to complete and update any pending assignments or log books.

Through the day at Lavonne, students are thoroughly engaged with class activities which would include theory classes, practical classes, team briefings, end-of-day meetings, and most importantly cleaning their classroom once the day is complete.

Food

During the day, students get two breaks, i.e. a 15 minute tea break and a 45 minute lunch break. Food is not provided for students at Lavonne. For lunch, students bring in their lunch or have it delivered. Most students, however, choose to pick up food from the Lavonne Café or even dine out nearby if time permits.

Accommodation

We presently do not provide accommodation for any students. However, we’d be more than happy to share contact details of reputed and trusted PG’s, hostels, hotels, rental agencies and serviced apartments in the vicinity. Students can visit these places and zero in on accommodation of their choice.

Career Guidance

Career guidance is a vital process that helps students journey through informed education, training, and career choices. Individual’s interests, skills, values and goals play an important part in providing students with resources and tools to help them make the right decisions.

It commences with self-assessment, where interests, strengths, values, and personality traits are explored using assessments like aptitude tests, personality evaluations, and interest inventories. Once strengths and interests are identified, career counselors provide insights into educational and training paths, facilitating the development of realistic, interest-aligned career goals.

In addition, career guidance encompasses essential aspects like resume construction, interview readiness, and guidance on effective job search strategies. It’s not a one-time event but a continuous process, adapting to evolving career stages, tackling opportunities and challenges.

Moreover, career guidance extends to achieving work-life balance, ensuring individuals strike a healthy balance between their professional and personal lives. Whether you are a student exploring future options or are a mid-career professional seeking change, career guidance offers valuable assistance, enabling informed decisions for fulfilling and successful careers.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Learning at Lavonne happens inside the classroom as well as outside. From bake sales to cultural events, we leave no stone unturned.

The activities we organise are:

  • Cultural Day
  • Students’ field trip to an outstation cocoa plantation
  • The Big Charity Bake Sale
  • Video projects
  • The buffet examination
  • CSR activities with students
  • Workshops with celebrity / visiting chefs
  • Graduation Day
  • Field trip

Our events are designed to help our students test their skills, cultivate cultural awareness, nurture inclusivity, and offer students a platform for exploring and embracing diverse cultural traditions, art forms, cuisines, music, dance and basically get exposed to what makes up the fabric of society.

Internships & Placements

Prior to program completion, our students make a resume and cover letter emphasising their relevant experience.

Students then submit their applications to the Placement Cell. This typically involves sharing their resume, cover letter, and any requested documents. Interviews can be in various formats, including in-person, phone, or video interviews. The idea is for both parties to evaluate compatibility and ensure goals are aligned.

Lavonne Practice School

The primary aim of the Lavonne Practice School Program is to give our students the first-hand experience of the world of entrepreneurship. Rather than just theoretical instruction, this program emphasises the practical aspects and intricacies of entrepreneurship. Guided by the visionary perspective of our former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who believed that education should focus on generating employment opportunities rather than simply seeking employment, Lavonne is establishing a training lab that serves as a launch pad for budding entrepreneurs.
